Orthodontist Near Ballentine, SC
Orthodontic treatment usually means more than one appointment, so convenience matters. Between school, work, sports, and everything else on the calendar, Ballentine families need an orthodontic office that is close enough to make ongoing care manageable.
At Carroll Orthodontics, Dr. Marshall Carroll, DMD, provides braces, Invisalign, early evaluations, teen orthodontics, and adult treatment from our nearby Chapin office. Rather than starting with a predetermined appliance, we look at the smile, bite, facial balance, and individual goals before recommending a plan.
New patients who book their initial consultation online may qualify for our free New Patient Smile Assessment Pack, which includes digital X-rays and a complete smile analysis.
Why Ballentine Families Choose Carroll Orthodontics
A technically straight smile is not automatically a great-looking or well-functioning smile. Carroll Orthodontics uses a “Smiles By Design” approach that considers features such as smile arc, facial balance, bite position, and how the teeth show when you smile.
That broader perspective is useful whether you are deciding if your child needs treatment, helping a teenager choose between braces and Invisalign, or finally addressing your own smile as an adult.
Our practice was also voted 2025 Best Orthodontist by Irmo-Chapin Life Magazine, and Ballentine is among the communities we serve.
Who We Treat
Ballentine patients come to us at very different stages.
A seven-year-old may only need periodic growth monitoring. A teenager may be ready for comprehensive bite correction. An adult may want to correct teeth that shifted after earlier braces or address something that has bothered them for years.
That is why the first appointment is about diagnosis rather than selling a particular treatment. If monitoring makes sense, we can say so. If it is time to begin, we can explain which options are likely to give the best result.
When Is It Worth Seeing an Orthodontist?
Consider scheduling an evaluation if you notice:
- crowding or teeth competing for space
- gaps that affect the smile or bite
- an overbite, underbite, crossbite, or open bite
- permanent teeth erupting out of position
- difficulty biting or chewing evenly
- teeth that have shifted after previous treatment
- jaw growth that seems uneven
- a child approaching age seven who has never had an orthodontic evaluation
You do not need to determine how serious the issue is yourself. The assessment is there to answer that question.
Orthodontic Services Available Near Ballentine
Braces
Braces remain a dependable choice for crowding, spacing, crooked teeth, and bite concerns that benefit from consistent, controlled tooth movement. Treatment is customized rather than based on a standard timeline.
Invisalign
Invisalign uses removable, customized clear aligners to move teeth gradually. The aligners can be appealing to patients who want orthodontic treatment with less impact on meals, brushing, and appearance.
LightForce Braces
LightForce braces offer a customized approach to fixed orthodontic treatment. Dr. Carroll can determine whether this option provides useful advantages for your particular tooth movements and smile goals.
Clear Ceramic Braces
Clear ceramic braces may appeal to patients who want the reliability of fixed braces with brackets that are less visually prominent than traditional metal braces.
Orthodontics for Kids
Orthodontics for kids starts with understanding growth. Carroll Orthodontics recommends an evaluation around age seven, but an early visit does not automatically mean treatment needs to begin immediately.
Teen Orthodontics
Teen orthodontics can include braces, Invisalign, or another option selected around the teen’s bite, developing smile, responsibilities, and daily routine.
Adult Orthodontics
Adult orthodontic treatment can address crowding, spacing, shifting teeth, and bite concerns whether you are starting treatment for the first time or revisiting orthodontics years later. Carroll Orthodontics offers both braces and Invisalign for adults.
Meet Dr. Marshall Carroll
Dr. Marshall Carroll, DMD
Dr. Marshall Carroll, DMD, is a South Carolina native who earned his biology degree from the University of South Carolina and his dental degree from the Medical University of South Carolina. He later completed a General Practice Residency at East Carolina University before specializing in orthodontics at MedStar Washington Hospital Center and Children’s National Hospital.
His approach considers the entire smile rather than focusing only on whether individual teeth are straight. For Ballentine patients, that means treatment is planned around function, aesthetics, facial balance, and the finished result.
